She was born November 23, 1934 at Wayne, WV, a daughter of the late Edwin Maxwell and Brooke Preston.
A son, Duane Adkins, also preceded her in death.
She was known in the area as a former co-owner of Adkins Grocery in Wayne for over 40 years.
Betty is survived by her husband, Vernon Asbury "Tom" Adkins; three sons, Vernon A. "Tommy" Adkins and wife, Pamela Sue of Wayne, WV, Tracy L. Adkins and wife, Dawn of Proctorville, OH, and Tillman M. Adkins of Huntington, WV; a special friend whom she loved as a daughter, Erica L. McVey of Huntington, WV; four sisters, Genevieve Skeens and Judith Booton of Wayne, WV, Lynn Asbury of Huntington, WV, and Sherry Fellure and husband Tom of Kenova, WV; a brother, Edwin "Macky" Booton and wife, Sandy of Wayne, WV; 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July5, 2011 at Morris Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne, WV by Pastor Greg Tomblinson. Burial will follow at Woodmere Memorial Park in Huntington.
