William Coppedge (Coppage) married Anne Knight in 1666 at Wicomico Parish Church in Northumberland County, Virginia. They were the parents of Charles Coppedge (Coppage) and at least four other children (William, John, James, and Anne). He was born in England and came to Virginia when he was about 16, circa 1662, and may have traveled with an uncle while his parents remained in England. He acquired 600 acres of land in 1679 in Northumberland County. His Will was proved in 1700, in which he was styled as a Planter, in Northumberland County. His lineage has been documented with the National Society of Colonial Dames of the Seventeenth Century.
