Ephraim Nathaniel Adams was born on 19 September 1816 in Greenville, Ohio to Ephraim Nathanial Adams and Lydia (Landes) Adams.
He married Francis Ellen "Fanny" Garver on 22 March 1838 in Highland County, Ohio. She had been widowed and he adopted her four children from that previous marriage (Jane, Catherine, Daniel and John Carpenter) on 10 Mar 1840 in Highland County. He and Fanny also had six children together: Eli (Born in Highland County), Becky (born in Tippecanoe, Indiana) and Susie, Maggie, Riley and Ellen (born in Washington County, Iowa).
Fanny and Ephraim acquired land in English River, Iowa in 1842, which they farmed together for 37 years as they raised the children.
Ephraim died in English River on 21 Oct 1879. Fanny lived until 1899.
