In 1946 he wrote is second work entitled, "The Foxes Of Harrow." After its released he was criticized by critics for not focusing more on writing about the Black culture. He was also compared to Margaret Mitchell, by saying his book was another, "Gone With The Wind." In 1955, disgusted with how the African-Americans were being discriminated, he moved to Madrid, Spain, where he lived until his death in 1991, at the age of 75. Yerby's other works include, "The Golden Hawk" (1948), "Pride's Castle" (1949), "Floodtide" (1950), "A Woman Called Fancy" (1951), "The Devil's Laughter" (1953), "Benton's Row" (1956), "Fairoaks" (1957), "Captain Rebel" (1958), "Judas, My Brother" (1968), and "The Dahomean" (1971).
