Lucille F. Avery, age 84 years, of VanGeisen Road, Caro, passed away on Thursday, December 27, 2007 at Caro Community Hospital. The former Lucille Birk was born on June 3, 1923 in Detroit to the late Jacob A. and Maude E. (LaLonde) Birk.
She married Harry Richard Avery on June 12, 1940 in Caro. He preceded her in death on January 1, 1992.
She had been employed as an attendant nurse at the Caro Regional Center until her retirement. For the next six years she was the "Chili Lady" at Wendy's.
She enjoyed her family and being with the public. Lucille enjoyed being outdoors and gardening. She was a member of the State Employee Retirement Association and St. Paul
Lutheran Church.
She is survived by two sons, one daughter and their spouses;
seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Michael Avery in 1991; and all of her siblings.
The funeral service will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro on Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Cameron Steele officiating.
Burial will be at Indianfields Township Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Collon Funeral Home on Monday from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or the American Red Cross.
