David Nelson Catanach passed away suddenly on March 23, 2009.
Born in Questa, New Mexico in 1926 to Savina and Trinidad Catanach, he grew up in Santa Fé and attended Santa Fé High School.
David entered the United States Air Force in 1944, and when he returned to Santa Fé, he attended the University of New Mexico.
David married Mildred Murray in 1947 and they had six children.
David worked 30 years for the United States Postal Service as a supervisor and went on to work for eight years as an inspector for the City of Santa Fé, NM.
David touched many lives in many ways as a Eucharistic Minister for 30 years for the Cathedral Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi.
David was beloved and cherished by his wife, children and grandchildren.
We thank him for his strength, tenderness, kindness, guidance and unending love.
David is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Mildred, six children, Barbara Hargis and her husband, Kenneth, Dennis and his wife Darlene, Cathleen and her fiancé, Roman, David and his wife, Grace, Elizabeth and her husband, Jerry and Carmel and her fiancé, Stan and grandchildren, Ken, Jonathan, Scott, David, Kelly, Brian, Christopher, Jeremy, Sean, Nicholas, Patrick, Kristie and Ryan. David is also survived by his brother, Jesse Catanach and many nieces and nephews.
David was preceded in death by his mother, Savina, father, Trinidad and his brother, Richard.
A Rosary will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at McGee Memorial Chapel at 1320 Luisa Street, Santa Fé, NM. The Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. at the Cathedral Basilica with internment following at Santa Fé National Cemetery, Santa Fé, NM. Pallbearers are grandsons, Ken Hargis, David Catanach, Brian Rodríguez, Jeremy Catanach, Nicholas Hamm and Ryan Bailey.
The family would like to invite friends and family to a reception at Crispin Hall located at the Cathedral after the burial.
