Gladys E. Martell, 77 of Turnpike Extension, Clerafield, died at her residence Tuesday, Sept. 16, 1997.

Born Aug. 18, 1920 in Selinsgrove (Sylvan Grove), she was a daughter of the late Clyde and Bertha (Lucas) Welch.

Mrs. Martell was a homemaker.

She is survived by 10 children, Bertha Tindall of Elk Mills, Md., Richard Martell of Karthaus, Gerald Martell, Hugh Martell, Patricia Lane, Suzette Babcock and Emma Reasinger, all of Clearfield, Gladys Pettis of Bonifay, Fla., Susan Irwin of Port Deposit, Md., and Randi Milton of Mount Vernon, Wash.

Also surviving are 32 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, two brothers and five sisters, Charles of Pine Glen, Floyd of Olanta, Eva of Clearfield, Edith of West Decatur, Bertha and Edna, both of New York, and Theona of York Haven; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Martell on Feb 8, 1994; two infant sons, one infant daughter, a sister and four brothers, Mary McFaye, Herbert, Carl, Elmer, and Haskell Welch.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield with the Rev. Percy O. Kephart officiating.

Interment will follow in the Keewaydin Cemetery.

Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. Thursday and from 1p.m. until the hour of services Friday at the funeral home.
