Amel Adolph Spencer, 50, Drumright grocer, was given funeral services at 2 p.m. Monday in the Drumright First Baptist church. The Rev. S. S. Walker, pastor of the Olive Baptist church, officiated.

Burial was in the Drumright North cemetery under direction of Smith Funeral home. Nephews served as pall bearers.

Death occurred in his home at 413 South Jones between 8 and 9 a.m. Friday, January 13. He had been ill about a year, suffering from a heart condition.

He was born June 12, 1916, in Olive to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Spencer and grew up in the Olive vicinity, living around here all his life. Mr. Spencer worked for a local oil company before entering the grocery business in 1937. His first store was in the former Ralph Hawkins' building on Tiger hill.

The Spencer grocery was later moved to its present location on East Broadway in the building formerly occupied by Hill's Body shop.

He was a member of the Drumright Chamber of Commerce. Drumright businesses were closed from 2 to 3 p.m. Monday out of respect for the deceased.

Mr. Spencer was married to Minnie Alice Perry in Drumright July 9, 1934.

Survivors are his wife, Minnie, of the home one daughter, Cuma F. Carroll of Drumright; one son, George L. Spencer, 543 E. 42nd Place, North Tulsa; four grandchildren; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Spencer of Olive; one sister, Mrs. Bernice Gilbert of Tulsa; four brothers, Ira Spencer of Drumright; Edmond Spencer of Olive; Leo Spencer of Tulsa and Eugene Spencer of Drumright; and a host of other relatives living in this vicinity.
