Mamie Efird Agner, 86, Salisbury, died Tuesday (Feb. 19, 2002) at Genesis ElderCare of Salisbury after a period of declining health.

Born Nov. 15, 1915, in Rowan County, Mrs. Agner, a daughter of the late W.M. and Maggie Littleton Efird, was educated in the Rowan County schools.

She retired from Cannon Mills. A member of Providence United Methodist Church, she was a former member of Union Lutheran Church's Molly Lyerly-Daisey Poplin Women of the Church and the St. Matthew's Lutheran Church Good Time Club.

Her husband, James Arthur Agner, preceded her in death.

Survivors include stepson James A. Agner Jr., Salisbury; stepdaughter Peggy Agner Troutman, Salisbury; and three step-grandchildren.

Services: 4 p.m. Thursday, Lyerly Funeral Home chapel, conducted by the Rev. Darrell Norris, pastor, Union Lutheran Church. Burial, Union Lutheran Church cemetery.

Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight at the funeral home.
