Canton – Maxine Matayo, 91, formerly of Canton, died at 9:15 p.m. Friday July 1, 2011 at Rosewood Care Center in East Peoria.
Born March 20, 1920, in Jerome, Iowa, to William and Elizabeth Rodgers Baxter, she married Stanko Matayo on October 1, 1938 in Ft. Madison, Iowa.
Surviving are one daughter Janice (Ron) Skinner of East Peoria, one son Stanko Kent (Marsha) Matayo of Bella Vista, Ark., one daughter-in-law Bonnie (Bill) Watkins of Russellville, Ark., seven grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanko, on October 9, 2001, one son David on March 30, 1980, five brothers and eight sisters.
She was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses in Canton.
There will be a graveside service on Wednesday July 6 at 11:30 a.m. at White Chapel Memory Gardens in Canton. There will be no visitation.
Oaks-Hines Funeral Home in Canton is in charge of arrangements.
