Waggoner Employee Killed
Riley Elbert Thacker, a 64 year old Waggoner Ranch employee, was crushed to death Monday afternoon when a tractor he was trying to load on a truck toppled on him.
The accident occurred about 300 yards southeast of the Flippen Creek entrance to Lake Kemp on US Highway 283. It was several hours before his body was discovered.
Baylor county sheriff Wesley Styles, who investigated the accident, said the tractor fell from the left side of the truck and pinned Mr. Thacker underneath.
Sheriff Styles said the accident occurred between 3-4 PM Monday. Mrs. birdie Ferguson, caretaker of Fippen Creek entrance discovered Mr. Thackers body about 5:50 PM.
Mr. Thacker was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of Peace O.R. Garner of Seymour.

Mr. Thacker was born February 11, 1904 in Erath county. He was married to Maggie Hindman in Aspermont on Dec. 13, 1952.
They moved to their Waggoner Ranch Home in Baylor County on May 10, 1961 from Spur, TX.
Mr. Thacker was a Methodist.
Surviving are his wife; one stepson, L. D. Parks, Arlington; five sisters, Mrs. Bessie Hobson of San Angelo, Mrs. Eva Pierce of Dickens, Mrs. Cora Stewart of Liberty Hills, Mrs Thelma Gunn of Washington and Mrs, Essie Fulbright of California; two brothers Nathan Thacker of Idalou and Herman Thacker of Tucson, AZ and a number of nieces and nephews.
