Services will be Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at 10 a.m. for Alene Newberry, 85 of Bennington at Coffey-Murray Chapel in Durant. Reverend Martin Hudgin will officiate. Burial will follow in the Bokchito Cemetery. Alene passed away Saturday, March 22, 2008, in Durant.
Alene was born Friday, December 22, 1922 in Texas to Melvin and Ada (Dill) Hall.
Alene married Frank Newberry in Atoka, Oklahoma, in 1938.
She was a member of the Peoples Holiness Church. She and husband, Frank started and built churches in Hobbs, New Mexico and Pritchard, Oklahoma. They pastured in numerous churches up until 1968. Alene was a nursing assistant for Caddo Nursing Home until she was almost 71 years old. She loved to work in her yard taking care of her home.
Alene was preceded in death by her parents Melvin and Ada Hall; husband, Frank Newberry; daughter, Myra Flece; and sister, Elizaberth Larmon.
She is survived by Daughter; Joycie Enzor, Durant; son, Melvin Newberry and wife, Beth, Bokchito, OK; Grandsons: Charles Enzor and Wife Dolly, Tuson, AZ; Maj. James Daniel Newberry and wife, Geanne, St. Peters, MO.; Granddaughter Edana Hoolmand and husband, Randy, Grandbury, TX; 2 Great Grandchildren: Amanda and Tristan; 3 Great Great Grandchildren and Sister, Bonnie Powell, Durant.
Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Monday, March 24, 2008 from 6-7 P.M.
