Mary Jean Gay Aegan, 57, of 10 Nona St., Buckhannon, died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004, at her residence.
She was born Jan. 7, 1947, in Wildcat, the daughter of the late John Creed Mourey and Violet Wyatt Mourey Staley, who survives in Rock Cave.
On Sept. 29, 1962, she was married to William R. Aegan Sr., who survives.
Surviving are four daughters, Victoria Shrover and husband, Rocky, of Statesville, N.C., Robin Lantz and husband, Robert, of Bridgeport, Genevia Phillips and husband, Gregory, of Buckhannon, and Nancy Belle Heater and husband, James of Buckhannon; four sons, William R. Aegan Jr. and wife, Beth, of Buckhannon, Thomas Aegan and wife, Jessica, of Gilbert, Ariz., Richard Aegan and wife, Rebecca, of Vichy, Mo., and Dana Charles Aegan and wife, Kristina, of Buckhannon; nine grandsons, Derrick Aegan of Buckhannon, Rodney Shroyer of Statesville, N.C., Justin Lantz of Bridgeport, Christian Heater of Buckhannon, Anthony Phillips of Buckhannon, William Thomas Aegan of Gilbert, Ariz., Wyatt Aegan of Vichy, Mo., and Matthew Aegan of Gilbert, Ariz.; one granddaughter, Faith Aegan of Vichy, Mo.; and four half sisters, Dianna Staton, Pauline Faye Staley, Paula Mae Tenney and Shirley Ann Burr, all of Upshur County; and 10 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, David Aegan.
She was a homemaker and member of Wayside Southern Baptist Church. She was an active volunteer at Buckhannon Manor.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church where funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Pastor Beryl McKisic will officiate and interment will follow in Rock Cave Cemetery. Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
