Jacob L. Adriaanse
Jacob "Jaap" Lievisse Adriaanse, 74, a resident of 44 Pineview Drive, passed away Tuesday evening, June 3, 2003, at his residence.
He was born April 1, 1929, at Tholen, Netherlands, a son of the late Jasper and Janna Abigael Pypelink Lievisse Adriaanse.
On June 25, 1985, at Redmond, Wa., he was married to Beverly Lou Shomo Price, who survives.
Also surviving is one son, Jaap Lievisse Adriaanse and wife, Patty de Koster, of Gorinehom, Netherlands; two stepsons, Jeffrey Thomas Price of Newport News, Va., and Kevin Lynn Price of Beverly; one daughter, Karen Bults-Lievisse Adriaanse and husband, Chris Bults, of Rotterdam, Netherlands; one stepdaughter, Melissa Price Knowles of Portsmouth, Va.; four brothers, Koos Lievisse Adriaanse of Wemeldinge, Netherlands, Wim and Antony Lievisse Adriaanse, both of Rotterdam, Netherlands and Jasper Lievisse Adriaanse of Oosterhout, Netherlands; two sisters, Sara Spiering-Lievisse Adriaanse of Rotterdam, Netherlands, and Maty de Hamer-Lievisse Adriaanse of Rrddenkenk, Netherlands; two grandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Maatje Lievisse Adriaanse and Adri Lievisse Adriaanse.
Jaap received a bachelor of science degree in marine engineering. He served as chief engineer and vice president of technical operations for Holland America Line prior to his retirement after 42 years of service. He was a beloved father and Opa (grandfather).
He was a member of the Dutch Reformed Church.
Friends may call at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., the funeral hour. The Rev. Jeff Falter will officiate and interment will follow at the Elkins Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care Corp., 629 North Ave., Elkins, 26241, in memory of Jaap. The Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Jacob "Jaap" Lievisse Adriaanse.
