Edward J. Dunphy, 76, of Monroe Township, New Jersey, died at his home on Saturday, August 12, 2006.


Born in Hoboken NJ, he moved to Edison NJ in 1961 and lived there for 18 years before moving to the Clearbrook adult community in Monroe Township in 1979.


He served in the Army for four years during the Korean War.


Mr. Dunphy was a truck driver for various trucking companies including Wilson Freight in Elizabeth for 30 years. He then worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a rural carrier in Dayton for 10 years before his retirement in 1994.


He was a past president and member of the Cranbury Lions Club. He was very involved in theater production for the Mighty Oak Players in Monroe Township and Clearbrook Productions in the Clearbrook community.


His survivors included his wife of 55 years, Marie L. (Russo) Dunphy; his sons, Edward P. (& his wife Jennie) of Bordentown NJ, Robert J. (& his wife Jan Sage) of West New York NJ, and Peter J. of Fort Collins CO; and eight grandchildren, Sean P., James E., Heather J., Robert R., Scott E., Mark E., Nicolas T., and Dustin S.
