Gary Leland "Beetle" Bailey, 62, died Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at his home.

He was born August 21, 1948 at a family farmhouse outside of Gate, Oklahoma. He was a life-long resident of Cimarron and graduated from Cimarron High School in 1967.

He was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe and a life member of the Howard Gotschall VFW Post 1714, both of Dodge City and a past member of St. Stanislaus Church, Ingalls.

Gary was a musician who enjoyed playing and singing music with others. He loved his family and sharing the outdoors with others. He had a great sense of humor and liked to make people laugh and was always there for anyone in need of help.

Gary proudly served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969.

On September 18, 1971 he married Marcia Marcotte in Garden City, Kansas. She survives.

Survivors include: 3 sons, Gary Bailey Jr. and wife Astrid, Hudson, Florida; Neal Bailey and wife April, Fayette, Missouri; and John Bailey and wife Candi, Ingalls; brothers, Allen Bailey, Meade; and Wayne Herron, Jetmore; sisters Deloris O'Grady, Cimarron; and Elaine Marcotte, Sedgwick, Kansas; step-father (Pop) Ralph Herron, Jetmore; and mother-in-law Marcella Marcotte, Garden City; 7 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Maxine Herron and Barney Bailey.

Rosary service will be 7:00 pm and a wake and memorial service at 7:30 pm Friday, July 1, 2011, St. Stanislaus Church, Ingalls. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Saturday at the church with Fr. Peter Fernandez presiding. Visitation from noon to 5:00 pm Friday at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Cimarron. Interment will be in the Cimarron Cemetery, Cimarron, with military rites by Howard Gotschall VFW Post 1714.

The family suggests memorials to The Salvation Army in care of Ziegler Funeral Chapel, P.O. Box 446, Cimarron, Kansas 67835.
