Television Producer. Along with his business partner Mark Goodson, they created Goodson-Todman Productions and specialized in early television game shows from 1948 until 1982. Born William S. Todman in New York City, New York, his father owned a Wall Street accounting firm. In 1948 he teamed up with Mark Goodson with their first television game show "Winner Take All" that debuted on CBS in July 1948. Other television game shows soon followed, including "It's News To Me," "The Price Is Right," "To Tell the Truth," "What's My Line?," "Double Dare," "Say When!!," "I've Got a Secret," "Match Game," "Play Your Hunch," "Family Feud," "Password," "Beat the Clock," "Card Sharks," and "Tattletales." His production company was also involved with the drama westerns "Jefferson Drum" (1958 to 1959), "The Rebel" (1959 to 1961), and "Branded" (1965 to 1966). He would eventually diversify the production company into other ventures, including newspaper, radio, and real estate businesses. He died from a heart condition in New York City, New York at the age of 62. In 2011, he was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame. His son, Bill Todman, Jr., became a successful film producer.
