Hubert Vernon Dowdy was born August 10, 1921 in Porum, Oklahoma the son of Robert C. and Margaret (Daugherty) Dowdy. Hubert died Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at his home in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He was 89 years of age.
Hubert went to Porum, Oklahoma Schools and Oklahoma State Technical School. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II. He married the former Miss Lola Georgie Hensley Scott on July 22, 1949 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. They moved to Broken Arrow in 1952. Lola preceded him in death on February 28, 2010. Hubert was an Airplane Mechanic at American Airlines. He enjoyed gardening, working on cars, tinkering on things and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
He is survived by three Daughters and spouses; Son and wife.
He was preceded in death by daughter, Jeanna Kay Knoche in 2001.
Funeral Services for Hubert Dowdy have been scheduled for 10:00 AM, Friday, July 1, 2011 at the Church of Christ in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Tim Pyles will officiate. Burial will follow at Park Grove Cemetery in Broken Arrow under the direction of Hayhurst Funeral Home.
