Alda Pearl (Beatty) Shaeffer

The daughter of Joseph Beatty and Anna May (Beaver) Beatty
Was Born May 29, 1907 In Aitch Marklesbugh, Huntington County.
Alda was raised with three sisters one brother
And two siblings died at infancy.

Alda in her teenage years came to Altoona to find work and found her first job working at Caum's Café and Ice Cream Store Altoona Pa. That's where she meet her husband Harry Morris Shaeffer
At that time when Alda was weighing out candy at the store Harry came in the store and that's
Where they both meet each other Alda says for some reason they just knew they were meant for each other at that point.

Harry was born July 14 1897 In Altoona Pennsylvania He is the son of Harry Barnes and Bertha Ellen (Reeder) Shaeffer. His mother Bertha Ellen a native of Tyrone Pa. and His Father Harry Barnes Shaeffer a native of Altoona Pa.
Owned and operated a Photography Studio known as Shaeffer's Studios established in 1910 and was once located at 1120 14th street downtown Altoona.

Waiting for Harry to graduate from Colombia College they were married Aug 19, 1930.
Harry had a job waiting for him in Chicago while on his way there they stopped at his sisters home Mrs. Joseph (Ruth) Oesterle in Madison, Wisconsin and their they were married Ruth served as there Maid of Honor and Joseph served as their Best Man they were married by a Methodist Minister.

After there wedding they moved to Chicago for a while where they together took up Housekeeping.
And later on Alda and Harry came back to Altoona and later joined His father in the photography business. Alda and her husband Harry kept the business together. After Harry became sick he past away June 9, 1964.
Alda kept the business going for another 10 years.

Upon Alda's retirement the Studio closed on March 31, 1974. The Studio has been open and ran by the same family for 75 years.

Alda is a long life member of the First Methodist Church in Altoona.
She is known for her love, generosity and kindness that she shows
towards other people.
