Mary A. Barker, 95, of Shelbyville, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2015. She was born March 10, 1920, in Shelby County, the daughter of Edgar and Lena (Herndon) Hoban.
She graduated from Waldron High School in 1938. She married Earl Barker in 1940 and he preceded her in death in 2006.
She was a lifetime resident of the area. Mary was a member of the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church and a charter member of the Lucky 15 Home Economics Club. Mary enjoyed entering exhibits in the Shelby County Fair for 75 years.
Mary is survived by her children, Robert (Tena) Barker of Carmel, William (Karen) Barker of Shelby County, Beverly (Jim) Caldwell of Indianapolis, Tom (Joyce) Barker of Adams, Bonnie Stauch of California, Scott (Julie) Barker of Shelbyville and John Barker of Florida; 20 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; five brothers; two sisters; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26 at Glenn E. George and Son Funeral Home in St. Paul. Funeral services begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27 at the funeral home with Pastor Dawn L. Barnes officiating. Burial will follow in Van Pelt Cemetery.
