Sarah Eveline Addington was born on 15 December 1866 in Harris in the state of Arkansas. She is the daughter of Moses Walton and Mary Ann Alvina (Thomason) Addington.

11 December 1892, at Pine City in the state of Washington, Sarah married Thomas Rufus Riggs. Together then had eight known children, Oda Myrtle, Alto Belle, Mary Susan, Clara Helen, Lydia Irene, Nina Pearl, Esther Franc, and Thomas Silas Riggs. They remained together until Sarah's death.

At the age of seventy, on 24 June 1937, Sarah passed away.
