Obituary:
Rena Glo Roden of De Kalb, Texas, passed away Monday, March 24, 2014, at a Denton, Texas assisted living facility. She was 104.

Rena was born February 7, 1910, in the Big Woods Community of De Kalb, Texas, to John Floyd and Maggie Wilma Phillips Wilson. She was the former Supervisor of Avery School Cafeteria, where she worked for 20 years. She was a member of the De Kalb Community of Christ Church in De Kalb, Texas and was a volunteer for Sunny Acres Nursing Center, De Kalb, Hope and De Kalb Senior Citizen Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Elmer Roden, on February 24, 1977.

Rena is survived by her son, James Alvin Roden of Denton, Texas; a daughter, Nadra June Thompson of Richardson, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Charley Mae Roden of Denton, Texas; a sister, Edith Marie Tidwell of De Kalb, Texas; a brother, Floyd Junior Wilson of De Kalb, Texas; three grandchildren, Karen Regina Voorhees and her husband Herschel, Kerry Reed Norton and her husband Scott, and Alan Thompson; four great grandchildren, Kathryn Roden Dixon and her husband Mike, James Marc Voorhees, Aaron Cole Norton and his wife Madison, and Richard Garren Norton; two great-great grandchildren, John Michael Dixon and Caroline Elizabeth Dixon; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 29, 2014, at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas with Robby Bates officiating. Interment will follow at Avery Cemetery in Avery, Texas.
