My Grandma

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥

My Grandmother was known as Pearl to those that knew and loved her. I never got the chance. When my mother was 5, Pearl got very sick while she was pregnant with her 4th child. The illness grew, and finally when she went to church for choir practice she collapsed, and died they tried to revive her, but she was gone, she never made it to the hospital. On her death certificate, it says that she died from peritonitis, this was caused from carrying a stillborn child. The address given as place of death, is the address of the church that she belonged to. I can only imagine her anquish and her pain. She left behind 3 children who were devastated by her loss.

I wish that I had the chance to get to know you. I would have been your second granddaughter, but your fifth grandchild. You would have had several grandchildren who all dearly wish that they had the chance.

My mother gave me many of your things, I have your pearl ring, and most of your depression glass that you saved. It all means a great deal to me but not as much as you.

The photograph of the elderly lady with the children on the right, is not you, but it is your children, with your mother-in-law, Hallie Mae Henry Mobley Hopwood. She married your father after your mother died but was also your husband's mother.
