Marie Elaine Dickey, daughter of Percy Edward and Mamie Sophie (Worm) Thayer, was born July 9, 1925 in Greeley County, NE.

Marie grew up north of Wolbach on a farm and attended school at Logan School and District #9.

On Sept. 27, 1944, Marie married Blaine Dale Dickey at Wolbach, NE.

They lived their entire married life on the Dickey family farm 12 miles west of Cedar Rapids, where they farmed and were blessed with three children: Diane, John and Linda.

Marie loved to ride horses and used them to help round up the cattle. She also raised chickens for the egg truck to purchase. Often times you would find her making dinner for the men in the field, helping in the hay field or babysitting grandchildren.

On Aug. 14, 1995, Dale passed away and Marie continued living on the farm until she entered Cloverlodge Care Center in St. Edward, NE on Jan. 21, 2009.

Marie was a member of the Cedar Rapids United Methodist Church over 50 years, the United Methodist Women, and the Logan Ladies Aid.

Her favorite pastimes were singing, sharing pictures of her family, traveling, visiting friends and family, reading, writing, baking birthday cakes and pies, making Jello desserts and attending family functions.

She is survived by her children: John (Deb) Dickey of Cedar Rapids, NE; Linda (Bill) Dobson of Primrose, NE; son-in-law: Ken Bogner of Grand Island, NE; 10 grandchildren: Tim Bogner, Marcy (Chris) Hess, Todd (Becky) Bogner, Amy (Mike) Malander, Jennifer (Matt) Asche, Katie Dickey, Brenda Dobson, Tami (Bill) Dodds, and William Jon Dobson; 20 great-grandchildren: Blade Middleton, Alicia, Isabella and Christian Hess, Coebin and Kenley Bogner, Rachel, Marisa, Vincent and Julianne Malander, Kenna, Connor, Carson and Kamry Asche, Tori Dobson and Brittany Eastman, Harrison, Owen, Austin and Kaitlyn Dodds.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Dale; a daughter Diane Bogner; a granddaughter Kristy Middleton; two sisters: Alberta Studley and Norma Merchant.
