Joyce Morton Walker, 83 of Rushville, passed away at 12:45 a.m. Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
She was born May 11, 1928 in Connersville. She lived her earliest years in Fayette County, where she graduated from Connersville High School.
She married the late Robert D. Morton with whom she had five children; she then was wed to the late Jack Walker.
She was a LPN and worked at Drake Memorial Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio for 23 years. She moved to Rushville in 1985 to care for her aging mother. She also worked at Miller's Merry Manor, Flatrock River Lodge and Hillside Haven nursing home facility. She attended Second Baptist and Wesley Methodist Church, both in Rushville.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ethel May Ellis Walker; her father, Rayphael Walker; and two brothers, Ralph Ellis and Ronald Walker.
She is survived by two sisters, Barbra McClain of Denver, Colo. and Shirley Dixon of Muncie; four daughters, Pamela Morton Boudoin, Valana Morton, Valena Morton and Kimberly Morton; a son, Darryl Morton; six grandchildren, Kellie Boudoin, Katrina Morton, Cammie Morton, Tony (Anthony) Boudoin, Darryl Morton Jr. and Robert Morton; and 10 great-grandchildren, Direz Morton, Tyell Morton, Bryna Boudoin, Majhsia Morton, Kianna Boudoin, Tyler Boudoin, Darryl Morton III, McKenzie Morton, Jordan Boudoin and Maliyah Morton.
The viewing and funeral service will be at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home, 1704 Grand Ave., Connersville, Saturday, June 25, 2011; friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with the funeral to follow at 1 p.m.
Burial will be in Dale Cemetery.
