RENSSELAER -- Richard D. "Dick" Ames, 67, of 11554 W. Indiana 114, died at 8:42 p.m. Sunday, May 17, in St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Lafayette.
Mr. Ames was a cabinet builder for 38 years at Northway Products, and he farmed.
Born Nov. 17, 1930, in Mount Ayr, he was a 1949 graduate of Rensselaer High School, where he was a member of the undefeated 1948-1949 football team. He attended St. Joseph College in Rensselaer. He married Carol Ann DeVelde on Oct. 13, 1951, in Lake Village. She survives.
Mr. Ames was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Rensselaer. He was an avid golfer and fisherman.
Surviving with his wife are three daughters, Mrs. Gary (Diane) Davis of Peoria, Ariz., Mrs. John (Nancy) Tillema of Wheatfield and Mrs. Bill (Susan) Ostler of Fargo, N. D.; and a brother, Herman DeVere Ames of Rensselaer.
