John was a Veteran of the Civil War, Union Army - Co. F, 48th Indiana Infantry. He enlisted on December 16, 1861 and died of "typhoid pneumonia" at the Paducah Hospital in Paducah, Kentucky. John was the son of Nicholas Albert and Catherine Sophia (Royer) Albert. He was the father of two children - Wesley John Albert and Alice Albert.
