Hold Service For Levi Bain, Joliet

Obsequies were held Tuesday afternoon in the Christian church at Joliet for Levi Bain, who died at his home in Joliet on Monday, October 10. Rev. Robert Cook conducted the ceremony, and interment was made in the Rockvale cemetery.

Mr. Bain is survived by his widow and a stepson, Loyd Megredy.

Born in Kentucky, October 10, 1849, Mr. Bain had been for the past 25 years a farmer of the joliet region. Two years ago he moved to Joliet, where he made his residence until his death.

NORTON - Henry D. Norton, oldest child of J. B. And Telitha Norton, was born December 21, 1836, in Adams County, Ill., and moved with his parents to Lee County, Iowa about the year 1845. In 1855 he settled with his parents in Mercer County, Mo. November 27, 1857, he was married in Grundy County, Mo., to Nancy Jane Harvey. To this union eight children were born. All were present at the funeral.

Brother Norton joined the Baptist church at the age of 24, his wife having joined the same church two years previous. He was a true-hearted Christian and delighted in singing the old hymns which were sung at the time of his conversion. Brother Norton's death was caused by a fall from a load of hay, dislocating his neck. It is believed that heart failure was the cause of his falling from the wagon.

The funeral services were conducted at his home, by Rev. V. M. Harper, and the body was taken to Chestnut cemetery for interment.

Passing of Mrs. Harriet Brush

Mrs. Harriet Brush, seventy-nine years old and for fifty years a resident of Madison township, died Thursday at her home three and one half miles south of Modena after an illness of thre (sic) weeks. Funeral services were held at the home Saturday, conducted by Rev. Roberts of Spickard, after which the remains were borne to the Chestnut cemetery and tenderly laid to rest. The deceased was a native of Chautauqua county, New York, and was the widow of :Lewis Brush, a pioneer Mercer county who died thirty years ago. Six children are left to mourn the loss of a devoted mother. Mrs. Brush was for many years a member of the Baptist church and was honored and respected by hosts of friends.

Mrs. Nan Gay passed away at the home of her son Jim Gay Tuesday evening last week. Funeral services were held at the Hamilton church Thursday afternoon and her body was laid to rest in the Chestnut cemetery.

Uncle Lewis Constable an old and respected citizen of Harrison township died at his residence Sunday night. Deceased was a pioner (sic) settler of Mercer County and at one time was prominent in politics having filled the offices of County Surveyor and County Assessor, this was several years ago. Of late years he has been living quietly on his farm.

Betty Holt
Betty Holt, an 81-year-old resident of Princeton, passed away Sunday, Feb. 25, 2001 at the Wright Memorial Hospital in Trenton.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2001 at 11 a.m. at Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Chapel in Princeton. Rev. Max Haggard will officiate. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, northwest of Princeton. Open visitation and viewing will begin at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 27 at the funeral home. There is no scheduled family visitation.

Mrs. Holt was born on a farm in Putnam County, near Powersville on Feb. 7, 1920, the daughter of Edward D. and Grace Mae Robinson Gorman. The married Loyd Dale Holt. He preceded her in death on Sept. 4, 1975. She was a lifelong Mercer and Putnam County farmer, living most of her life on her farm, northwest of Princeton.

Mrs. Holt is survived by one son [name redacted to observe privacy] and by other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Holt was preceded in death by two brothers, John R. Gorman and Edward D. Gorman, Jr.; and by on (sic) sister, Mira Cox.

Max Scott Wilder

Max Scott Wilder, 64, Princeton, died on Monday, Nov. 9, 1998 at his home southwest of Mercer.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Nov. 13 at 1 p.m. at the Mercer Assembly of God Church. The Rev. Robert Markum will officiate. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, northwest of Princeton.

An open visitation and viewing will begin at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Nov 12 at the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Service at Princeton. A family visitation will be from 7 to 8 o'clock that same evening.

Mr. Wilder was born on Nov. 17, 1933 near Mercer, the son of Lee Wallace and Lois Merle Scott Wilder. He lived most of his life in Mercer county, working as a truck driver and farmer. He was also the former owner and operator of Wilder Hardware Store at Mercer.

Mr. Wilder was a graduate of Princeton High School, a member of the Faith Christian Church in Princeton and served in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Wilder is survived by two daughters . . . and three grandchildren [names omitted to observe privacy].

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mira Cox

Mira Mae Cox, 83, died Monday July 4, 1994 at the Lincoln Manor Nursing Center in Chillicothe, Mo., where she had been a patient the past 11 days.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, July 7, 1994 at Fairview Cemetery, northwest of Princeton, under the direction of Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Service of Princeton. There is no scheduled family visitation. Open visitation will begin at 8 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Cox was born March 4, 1911 near Powersville in Putnam County, the daughter of Edward D. and Grace Mae Robinson Gorman. She was married Oct. 19, 1932 to Albert Henry Cox, who preceded her in death on Feb. 25, 1958.

Mrs. Cox is survived by two grandchildren [names omitted to observe privacy], one sister, Betty Holt of Princeton; and one nephew [name omitted to observe privacy].

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Franklin Delano Cox on July 20, 1983; and two brothers, John Gorman and Edward D. Gorman Jr.

Marjorie Marie Sullivan

Marjorie Marie Sullivan, an 89-year-old resident of Altoona, IA, died on Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2011, at the Bright-Kavanagh Hospice House in Des Moines, IA.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011, at the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Chapel in Princeton with Pastor Gary Watkins officiating. Burial sill be in the Early Cemetery in Mercer.

Open visitation and viewing will begin at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, at the funeral home, where the family visitation will be from 10 a m until service time.

Mrs Sullivan was born on July 6, 1922 in Valley Junction, IA, the daughter of Oscar and Nina Boyd Lambert. She was married on Dec. 10, 1941 at Trenton to Michael F. Sullivan, who preceded her in death on April 18, 2000.

The couple lived in the Des Moines area until her husband's retirement in 1986, then moved to Mercer and lived on Lake Marie, where they enjoyed camping and fishing with the family. Mrs. Sullivan moved to Altoona, in 2002.

She is survived by three sons, a daughter-in-law [names omitted to observe privacy]. One sister, Maxine Archibald of Des Moines, eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Michael Jr. who died in infancy, and James Michael; and infant daughter, Marjorlon, and a sister, Mary Jane Short.

Leona Mae Collings

Leona Mae Collings, an 84-year-old resident of Mercer died on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at the Kavanaugh Home in Des Moines, IA.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday April 21, 2010 at the Mercer Baptist Church. Pastor Ron Helton will officiate. Burial will be in the Early Cemetery, south of Mercer.

Open viewing begins at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Chapel, where a family visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday.

Mrs. Collings was born on Sept. 5, 1925 in Princeton, the daughter of Pearl Roy and Edith Derry Wells. She was raised in Mercer and graduated from Mercer High School. She was married on Jan. 18, 1947 to Kenneth D. Collings, who preceded her in death on July 11, 1996. After their marriage, they lived in Davenport, IA before moving back to Mercer. She owned and operated her own beauty shop in Mercer for several years. She was a past member of the Eastern Star and a member of the Eastern Star and a member of the Mercer Baptist Church.

She is survived by [one daughter, one son, three grandchildren, a great-grandson (names omitted for privacy)], and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a brother, William A. Wells; and a grandson, Joshua Collings.

Loel Grace Schooler

Loel Grace Schooler, a 91-year-old resident of Lee's Summit, died on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at the Saint Luke's Medical Center East in Lee's Summit.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 3, ,2011, at the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Chapel in Princeton with Pastor Ron Helton officiating. Burial will be in the Early cemetery, south of Mercer.

The family visitation will from noon until service time. Open visitation is now under way at the funeral chapel.

Mrs. Schooler was born near Ravanna in Mercer County on March 2, 1920, the daughter of Virgil Glenn Sr. and Louella Irene Snyder Torrey. She was raised in Mercer County and was a graduate of Ravanna High School. She attended Maryville State Teachers College in Maryville, Missouri, where she received her teacher's certification, and taught in the Ravanna School for a few years.

She was married on Aug. 3, 1940 to Ray Schooler, who preceded her in death on Jan. 14, 1994. When her husband returned from the service after World War II, they moved to Iowa Falls, IA, where they owned and operated Ray's Radio and TV Sales and Service for 28 years. She later worked for Walmart.

Mrs. Schooler was very active in Republican politics, serving for many years on the Hardin County, IA, Republican Women's Committee. The was a volunteer at the Veterans Administration Nursing Home and helped get legislation passed in Iowa on Nursing Home Reform. The was also an active member of the First Christian Church in Iowa Falls and member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She also wrote and published a book on the Torrey Family History.

Mrs. Schooler is survived by [1 niece, 3 nephews (names omitted for privacy)] and by other nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Virgil Glenn Torrey Jr. and Jack Torrey; and by a nephew Jackie Glenn Torrey.

MRS. DONALD BECK DIES AT KC

Body Retruned to Slater Funeral Home; Services Incomplete

Mrs. Lola Frances Beck, 38, wife of Donald Beck, 2643 Indiana, Kansas City, died Friday afternoon at the University of Kansas Medical Center where she had been a patient for three days. The had been ill three weeks. The body was returned to Trenton and taken to the Slater Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Mrs. Beck was born near Spickard Jan. 3, 1917, a daughter of Frank and Mary Goldsby Adams. She attended Spickard grade school and was graduated from the Trenton High School and the Northeast Missouri State College at Kirksville. She taught at Gehlbach school for two years.

On Oct. 26, 1940, she was married at Chillicothe to H. Donald Beck or Trenton. They were the parents of three children. Survivors include her husband of the home, [two daughters, names omitted for privacy] and a son, Donald Dillon Beck, 6. She is also survived by her mother, Mrs. Mary Adams, Trenton; three sisters, Mrs. Mildred Mitchell, Edinburg, Mrs. Irene Franklin, Richmond, Calif., and Mrs. Lela Brownawell, Gary, Ind.; three brothers, Rex Adams, Spickard, Terry Adams, Marshalltown, IA., and Forest Adams, Chillicothe.

Mr. and Mrs. Beck moved to Kansas City in 1944. The was a member of the Edinburg Baptist Church and the Ladd Elementary School Parent Teachers Association of Kansas City. She had been a leader of the Girl Scout Brownie Troop No. 574 at Kansas City for the past two years.

Joseph Crigler Dies Unexpectedly

Joseph Crigler, 71, of Mercer, died unexpectedly Thursday morning of an apparent heart attack.

The body is at the Greenlee Funeral Home in Lineville, Iowa, where funeral arrangements are pending.

Mr. Crigler was a member of the Mercer Lions Club, Moila Temple and the Mercer town council.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie of the home, three daughters [names omitted due to privacy] one brother Poe Crigler of Alta, Mo, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Born to Dr. E. Cox and wife, last Wednesday, a baby boy. But to the bitter disappointment of parents and friends the baby only lived a few hours. It was laid to rest in Early cemetery Thursday afternoon.

Mrs. Ellen Watkins died at the Mrs. Browning home in Mercer last week, after an illness of several weeks. The funeral was preached at the Christian church last Thursday morning by Rev. Nichols of Princeton, after which the remains were taken for burial to the Moore cemetery, eight miles northwest of Mercer. Several went to the cemetery, the weather was rainy and the roads muddy. Mrs. Watkins had spent a life of usefulness in Mercer and vicinity.

MRS. ROSA RAGAN DIES

Funeral Services Conducted Wednesday at Lineville

Funeral services for Mrs. Rosa Belle Bloom Ragan, who died April 30, were held last Wednesday afternoon at the Assembly of God church at Lineville. Rev. Roy Donelson was in charge. Burial was in the Moore cemetery.

Mrs. Ragan, who was 59 years old, was the daughter of Dirk and Nellie Bloom. She was born January 24, 1884. She was married to Squier Bate Ragan on March 16, 1902. They were the parents of eight children, four of whom, with her husband, preceded her in death. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Blanche Glines of Davenport, Mrs. Wanda Hollinger of Lineville and Mrs. Jessie Davis of the home, and one son. Pvt. Oval Dan Ragan of Los Angeles, Cal. She is also survived by her father, three brothers, four sisters and 12 grandchildren

Thos. J. Moore, a brother of Caleb Moore, of this city, died at his home near Alvord on Saturday, February 3. He was about sixty years of age and had been a citizen of this county for many years.

Thomas J. Moore died at his home, northeast of Alvord, February 3, 1900, northeast of Alvord, February 3, 1900. He was born in Estill county, Kentucky, March 23, 1837, and moved to Mercer County in the year 1864, where he lived until his death. He had been a member of the Methodist church for about twenty-one years. He leaves a wife and eight daughters and a host of friends to mourn his loss. The funeral services were conducted by the writer, and were attended by a large concourse of sympathetic friends. Text: "If in this life only we have hope in Christ we are of all men most miserable."

Doug Moore, a well known citizen of near Lineville passed away at his home Sunday night. He was cutting corn on his farm las week and was overcome by the heat Thursday.

Death of Mrs. Robert Moore

Mrs. Hester Ann Moore, wife of Robert Moore, died Saturday, December 11th, at the family home in Lindley township after a lingering illness. Funeral services were held Sunday conducted by Rev. Morley, pastor of the Pleasanton Church of Latter Day Saints, following which interment was made at the Moore cemetery. Mrs. Moore was about seventy-five years of age and was the mother of ten children, eight of whom, with the husband, survive her. She was an estimable christian lady and leaves a host of friends to cherish her memory.

Death of Mrs. Randolph Moore

Mrs. Ida May Moore, wife of Randolph Moore, died Sunday, August 4, at her home four miles west of Lineville, after an illness of one week. Funeral services were held at the family burying grounds on the following day, conducted by Duncan Campbell, of Pleasanton, Iowa.

Mrs. Moore was a daughter of Richard and Iva Ann Wilkenson and was born in Princeton, June 22, 1878. She had always resided in this county. She was united in marriage to Randolph Moore January 22, 1894, and to this union were born seven children, four boys and three girls, all of whom are living. Mrs. Moore was a most excellent woman and a loving wife and mother. Universal testimony is Bourne to her kindness and geniality of disposition.

Death of Pioneer

Melt Moore, a prominent farmer, who was born and lived for nearly 70 years in the neighborhood five miles southwest of Lineville, died at his home in South Lineville, died at his home in South Lineville Tuesday afternoon of a complication of diseases from which he has been suffering for the past number of months. Funeral services were held at the M. E. Church, South, yesterday afternoon, conducted by Rev. MARY LOU ANDREAS

Mary Lou Andreas, 83, a resident of Princeton, died today, March 7, 2000, at the Ashton Court Care-Rehabilitation in Liberty.

The body will be cremated. Burial will be in the Half Rock Cemetery in Half Rock

A celebration of Mrs. Andreas life is planned for the month of June. The date will be announced later.

Mrs. Andreas was born on Aug. 10, 1916 on the home farm at Half Rock, in Mercer County, the daughter of Theodore Allen and Junia (Cooper) Hazen. She was reared in the Half Rock community, attended grade school at the rural Lyon's school, attended one year of high school in Trenton, two years at the Harris school, and one year at Galt. The was married on Jan. 23, 1942 in Bethany to Raymond Leroy Black, whom she later divorce. (sic) In 1961, she was married to L. H. "Andy" Andreas. This marriage also ended in divorce.

After graduating from Galt High School, Mrs. Andreas taught school at the Burkholder and Rhoades rural schools, and earned her teacher's certificate by going to school during the summer months. She worked in Kansas City as a bookkeeper and auditor at the Rasbach Hotel and later the Chatham Hotel and Apartments. After she retired, she moved to a housing complex in the same area in Kansas City. She moved to the Oakwood Terrace Apartments in Princeton in 1991.

Mrs. Andreas was a member of the Providence Baptist Church in Half Rock.

Survivors include one son and two daughters, one stepson, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. [Names omitted for privacy purposes.]

Mrs. Andreas was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister Betty Nell Edwards.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made in Mrs. Andreas' name to the {providence Baptist Church. These may be sent in care of Coda Baugher [address omitted].

Max Scott Wilder

Max Scott Wilder, 64, Princeton, died on Monday, Nov. 9, 1998 at his home southwest of Mercer.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, Nov. 13 at 1 p.m. at the Mercer Assembly of God Church. The Rev. Robert Markum will officiate. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, northwest of Princeton.

An open visitation and viewing will begin at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Nov 12 at the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Service at Princeton. A family visitation will be from 7 to 8 o'clock that same evening.

Mr. Wilder was born on Nov. 17, 1933 near Mercer, the son of Lee Wallace and Lois Merle Scott Wilder. He lived most of his life in Mercer county, working as a truck driver and farmer. He was also the former owner and operator of Wilder Hardware Store at Mercer.

Mr. Wilder was a graduate of Princeton High School, a member of the Faith Christian Church in Princeton and served in the U.S. Army.

Mr. Wilder is survived by two daughters . . . and three grandchildren [names omitted to observe privacy].

Mira Cox

Mira Mae Cox, 83, died Monday July 4, 1994 at the Lincoln Manor Nursing Center in Chillicothe, Mo., where she had been a patient the past 11 days.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, July 7, 1994 at Fairview Cemetery, northwest of Princeton, under the direction of Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Service of Princeton. There is no scheduled family visitation. Open visitation will begin at 8 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Cox was born March 4, 1911 near Powersville in Putnam County, the daughter of Edward D. and Grace Mae Robinson Gorman. She was married Oct. 19, 1932 to Albert Henry Cox, who preceded her in death on Feb. 25, 1958.

Mrs. Cox is survived by two grandchildren [names omitted to observe privacy], one sister, Betty Holt of Princeton; and one nephew [name omitted to observe privacy].

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Franklin Delano Cox on July 20, 1983; and two brothers, John Gorman and Edward D. Gorman Jr.

Marjorie Marie Sullivan

Marjorie Marie Sullivan, an 89-year-old resident of Altoona, IA, died on Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2011, at the Bright-Kavanagh Hospice House in Des Moines, IA.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011, at the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Chapel in Princeton with Pastor Gary Watkins officiating. Burial sill be in the Early Cemetery in Mercer.

Open visitation and viewing will begin at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, at the funeral home, where the family visitation will be from 10 a m until service time.

Mrs Sullivan was born on July 6, 1922 in Valley Junction, IA, the daughter of Oscar and Nina Boyd Lambert. She was married on Dec. 10, 1941 at Trenton to Michael F. Sullivan, who preceded her in death on April 18, 2000.

The couple lived in the Des Moines area until her husband's retirement in 1986, then moved to Mercer and lived on Lake Marie, where they enjoyed camping and fishing with the family. Mrs. Sullivan moved to Altoona, in 2002.

She is survived by three sons, a daughter-in-law [names omitted to observe privacy]. One sister, Maxine Archibald of Des Moines, eight grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Michael Jr. who died in infancy, and James Michael; and infant daughter, Marjorlon, and a sister, Mary Jane Short.

Leona Mae Collings

Leona Mae Collings, an 84-year-old resident of Mercer died on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at the Kavanaugh Home in Des Moines, IA.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday April 21, 2010 at the Mercer Baptist Church. Pastor Ron Helton will officiate. Burial will be in the Early Cemetery, south of Mercer.

Open viewing begins at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Chapel, where a family visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday.

Mrs. Collings was born on Sept. 5, 1925 in Princeton, the daughter of Pearl Roy and Edith Derry Wells. She was raised in Mercer and graduated from Mercer High School. She was married on Jan. 18, 1947 to Kenneth D. Collings, who preceded her in death on July 11, 1996. After their marriage, they lived in Davenport, IA before moving back to Mercer. She owned and operated her own beauty shop in Mercer for several years. She was a past member of the Eastern Star and a member of the Eastern Star and a member of the Mercer Baptist Church.

She is survived by [one daughter, one son, three grandchildren, a great-grandson (names omitted for privacy)], and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a brother, William A. Wells; and a grandson, Joshua Collings.

Loel Grace Schooler

Loel Grace Schooler, a 91-year-old resident of Lee's Summit, died on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at the Saint Luke's Medical Center East in Lee's Summit.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 3, ,2011, at the Greenlee-Middleton Funeral Chapel in Princeton with Pastor Ron Helton officiating. Burial will be in the Early cemetery, south of Mercer.

The family visitation will from noon until service time. Open visitation is now under way at the funeral chapel.

Mrs. Schooler was born near Ravanna in Mercer County on March 2, 1920, the daughter of Virgil Glenn Sr. and Louella Irene Snyder Torrey. She was raised in Mercer County and was a graduate of Ravanna High School. She attended Maryville State Teachers College in Maryville, Missouri, where she received her teacher's certification, and taught in the Ravanna School for a few years.

She was married on Aug. 3, 1940 to Ray Schooler, who preceded her in death on Jan. 14, 1994. When her husband returned from the service after World War II, they moved to Iowa Falls, IA, where they owned and operated Ray's Radio and TV Sales and Service for 28 years. She later worked for Walmart.

Mrs. Schooler was very active in Republican politics, serving for many years on the Hardin County, IA, Republican Women's Committee. The was a volunteer at the Veterans Administration Nursing Home and helped get legislation passed in Iowa on Nursing Home Reform. The was also an active member of the First Christian Church in Iowa Falls and member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She also wrote and published a book on the Torrey Family History.

Mrs. Schooler is survived by [1 niece, 3 nephews (names omitted for privacy)] and by other nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

MRS. DONALD BECK DIES AT KC

Body Retruned to Slater Funeral Home; Services Incomplete

Mrs. Lola Frances Beck, 38, wife of Donald Beck, 2643 Indiana, Kansas City, died Friday afternoon at the University of Kansas Medical Center where she had been a patient for three days. The had been ill three weeks. The body was returned to Trenton and taken to the Slater Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Mrs. Beck was born near Spickard Jan. 3, 1917, a daughter of Frank and Mary Goldsby Adams. She attended Spickard grade school and was graduated from the Trenton High School and the Northeast Missouri State College at Kirksville. She taught at Gehlbach school for two years.

On Oct. 26, 1940, she was married at Chillicothe to H. Donald Beck or Trenton. They were the parents of three children. Survivors include her husband of the home, [two daughters, names omitted for privacy] and a son, Donald Dillon Beck, 6. She is also survived by her mother, Mrs. Mary Adams, Trenton; three sisters, Mrs. Mildred Mitchell, Edinburg, Mrs. Irene Franklin, Richmond, Calif., and Mrs. Lela Brownawell, Gary, Ind.; three brothers, Rex Adams, Spickard, Terry Adams, Marshalltown, IA., and Forest Adams, Chillicothe.

Mr. and Mrs. Beck moved to Kansas City in 1944. The was a member of the Edinburg Baptist Church and the Ladd Elementary School Parent Teachers Association of Kansas City. She had been a leader of the Girl Scout Brownie Troop No. 574 at Kansas City for the past two years.

Joseph Crigler Dies Unexpectedly

Joseph Crigler, 71, of Mercer, died unexpectedly Thursday morning of an apparent heart attack.

The body is at the Greenlee Funeral Home in Lineville, Iowa, where funeral arrangements are pending.

Mr. Crigler was a member of the Mercer Lions Club, Moila Temple and the Mercer town council.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie of the home, three daughters [names omitted due to privacy] one brother Poe Crigler of Alta, Mo, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services Conducted Wednesday at Lineville

Funeral services for Mrs. Rosa Belle Bloom Ragan, who died April 30, were held last Wednesday afternoon at the Assembly of God church at Lineville. Rev. Roy Donelson was in charge. Burial was in the Moore cemetery.

Mrs. Ragan, who was 59 years old, was the daughter of Dirk and Nellie Bloom. She was born January 24, 1884. She was married to Squier Bate Ragan on March 16, 1902. They were the parents of eight children, four of whom, with her husband, preceded her in death. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Blanche Glines of Davenport, Mrs. Wanda Hollinger of Lineville and Mrs. Jessie Davis of the home, and one son. Pvt. Oval Dan Ragan of Los Angeles, Cal. She is also survived by her father, three brothers, four sisters and 12 grandchildren

He was born in Estill county, Kentucky, March 23, 1837, and moved to Mercer County in the year 1864, where he lived until his death. He had been a member of the Methodist church for about twenty-one years. He leaves a wife and eight daughters and a host of friends to mourn his loss. The funeral services were conducted by the writer, and were attended by a large concourse of sympathetic friends. Mrs. Hester Ann Moore, wife of Robert Moore, died Saturday, December 11th, at the family home in Lindley township after a lingering illness. Funeral services were held Sunday conducted by Rev. Morley, pastor of the Pleasanton Church of Latter Day Saints, following which interment was made at the Moore cemetery. Mrs. Moore was about seventy-five years of age and was the mother of ten children, eight of whom, with the husband, survive her. She was an estimable christian lady and leaves a host of friends to cherish her memory.

Death of Mrs. Randolph Moore

Mrs. Ida May Moore, wife of Randolph Moore, died Sunday, August 4, at her home four miles west of Lineville, after an illness of one week. Funeral services were held at the family burying grounds on the following day, conducted by Duncan Campbell, of Pleasanton, Iowa.

Mrs. Moore was a daughter of Richard and Iva Ann Wilkenson and was born in Princeton, June 22, 1878. She had always resided in this county. She was united in marriage to Randolph Moore January 22, 1894, and to this union were born seven children, four boys and three girls, all of whom are living. Mrs. Moore was a most excellent woman and a loving wife and mother. Universal testimony is Bourne to her kindness and geniality of disposition.

Death of Pioneer

Melt Moore, a prominent farmer, who was born and lived for nearly 70 years in the neighborhood five miles southwest of Lineville, died at his home in South Lineville, died at his home in South Lineville Tuesday afternoon of a complication of diseases from which he has been suffering for the past number of months. Funeral services were held at the M. E. Church, South, yesterday afternoon, conducted by Rev. MARY LOU ANDREAS

Mary Lou Andreas, 83, a resident of Princeton, died today, March 7, 2000, at the Ashton Court Care-Rehabilitation in Liberty.

The body will be cremated. Burial will be in the Half Rock Cemetery in Half Rock

A celebration of Mrs. Andreas life is planned for the month of June. The date will be announced later.

Mrs. Andreas was born on Aug. 10, 1916 on the home farm at Half Rock, in Mercer County, the daughter of Theodore Allen and Junia (Cooper) Hazen. She was reared in the Half Rock community, attended grade school at the rural Lyon's school, attended one year of high school in Trenton, two years at the Harris school, and one year at Galt. The was married on Jan. 23, 1942 in Bethany to Raymond Leroy Black, whom she later divorce. (sic) In 1961, she was married to L. H. "Andy" Andreas. This marriage also ended in divorce.

After graduating from Galt High School, Mrs. Andreas taught school at the Burkholder and Rhoades rural schools, and earned her teacher's certificate by going to school during the summer months. She worked in Kansas City as a bookkeeper and auditor at the Rasbach Hotel and later the Chatham Hotel and Apartments. After she retired, she moved to a housing complex in the same area in Kansas City. She moved to the Oakwood Terrace Apartments in Princeton in 1991.

Mrs. Andreas was a member of the Providence Baptist Church in Half Rock.

Survivors include one son and two daughters, one stepson, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. [Names omitted for privacy purposes.]

Mrs. Andreas was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister Betty Nell Edwards.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made in Mrs. Andreas' name to the {providence Baptist Church. These may be sent in care of Coda Baugher [address omitted].
