Powell – On Sunday, April 9, 19-5, at her home near Rollingsburg, Mrs. Nellie Powell, wife of Averett Powell, formerly Miss. Nellie Hudson aged 21 years, Of pneumonia fever. She professed religion several months ago. Hers was a sunny happy disposition, when a school girl she was loved by all, she was so quite and pleasant. About three years ago she was married to Mr. Powell. Happy in each other's love they looked forward to the future full of pleasure. Today the young husband father and mother, sister and brother, are heart broken. There is a comfort in the assurance that her soul is safe in Heaven, with God who gave it. Her last words were of Heaven as she bade her friends meet her in the home beyond.
Dearest Nellie, thou hast left us,
here the lass we deeply feel
but ‘tis God that hath bereft us,
