Indian Campaigns Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Sergeant in the US Army in Company C, 9th US Cavalry. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action at Cuchillo Negro River and Mimbres Mountains, New Mexico in May 29 and September 27, 1879. His citation reads "Bravery in action."
