James H. "Jim" Gullickson, age 83, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2009, surrounded by his loving family at HospiceCare in Fitchburg. He was born on May 8, 1925, the son of Harvey and Wilhelma (Peterson) Gullickson in DeForest. he grew up on the Gullickson farm in DeForest. Jim married on Aug. 4, 1967, in Verona. He became a stepfather to four children, They had a child and the family grew to five children. Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather of 10 and great grandfather of 12. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Hazel Gullickson; brother, Russell Gullickson; daughter-in-law, Terry Weichmann; and sisters-in-law, Marge and Jo Gullickson. Funeral servicces will be held on Friday, Feb. 6, 2009, at Spring Prairie Lutheran Church, N509 County Road C, Keyeser, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Sylvia Lee-Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at the Spring Prairie Cemetery in Keyeser. A visitation will be held at the church on Friday, Feb. 6, 2009, from 10 a.m. until the time of services.

Jim was a wonderful, loving and gentle man who took on a ready made family and made a wonderful home for his family. He will be missed by so many who loved him as family and friend. Jim's family would like to extend a thank you to the staff at HospiceCare and a special thank you to Maria.
