Mrs. Alta Z. Cornell, wife of William Cornell, died at 5 o'clock last evening at the family residence, two and one-half miles northeast of Stockwell, after a lingering illness and much suffering. Her death was caused by cancer of the intestines. Mrs. Cornell was 62 years old and was born and reared in this county. Her maiden name was Alta Lake and her entire life was spent in the community in which she died. She was a member of the Methodist church and a woman of noble character. She was devoted to her home and family and was a true friend, loved and respected by all who knew her. She leaves a husband and the following children; Mrs. C. E. Anderson, Mrs. Chelcie Barger, Thomas, William, Clyde, James and Edward Ray Cornell. She also leaves the following brothers and sisters; Mort Lake, Mrs. Perry Holliday and Mrs. Emma Rusk, of Stockwell; Ambrose, William, James and Neva Lake, of Oklahoma. The funeral will be conducted from the Salem church, with interment in the Salem cemetery.
