George Henry Duran, age 74 of Fairfield, passed away June 19, 2011 at the Jefferson County Health Care Center in Fairfield.

George was born June 29, 1936 to James and Christine Amador Duran in Roswell N.M. He married Magdalene Gallegos on August 16, 1958 in Albuquerque, N.M.

George has lived in Fairfield for 6 years, with previous residence in Bonita Springs, Florida. He was a Manager/Consaltant for Industrial Laundry for 40 years. His intrest and hobbies include golf, fishing, tropical fish, computer-technology, and football.

George is survived by his wife Magdalene Duran of Fairfield, 4 sons and 3 daughters and families, David Duran of Huston, TX., Clarisa(Tom)McMahon of Fairfield, IA., Dolores(Joe)Bina of Maple Grove, MN., Vincent Duran of Nicholasville, KY., Jennifer(Donny)Sanders of Brunswich, GA., James(Heather)Duran of Palatine, IL., Gregory Duram of Reading, PA. 13 grandchildren, Megan McMahon, Matt McMahon, Alec Austin, Elena. Marie Austin, Miguel Duran, Carina Duran, Cristina Krouter, Ricardo Duran, Abigall Duran, Rebecca Duran, Andrew Duran, Kirsten Rubenking, Jeremy Rubenking, and 1 brother William Cantu of Las Cruces, NM.

George was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters Marie Larva, and Juanita DeGarmo 1 brother James Cantu.

A Memorial service will be 11 am Wednesday June 29, 2011 at St. Mary Catholic Church with Fr. Stephen Page officating. He genorously donated his body to the University of Iowa for study. Burial of his cremains will be at a later date. Visitation for family and friends will be from 10-11 am at St. Mary Catholic church prior to service June 29, 2011. Memorials can be made to St. Mary Catholic Church or to Parkinson's Foundation (Davis Phinney Foundation).
