Born Selina R. Williams in Spartanburg, SC, on April 15, 1916, she was the daughter of Capt. Lloyd William and Selina Ravenel Williams. When her father was killed in WW I, her mother commemorated her late husband's life by changing her daughter's name to his, and thus she was called Lloyd all her life.

She graduated from Converse College in Spartanburg, and then continued her education in Europe before the Second World War at Oxford University in England and at the University of Berlin, barely escaping Germany while the Nazis were cracking down allowing the departure of foreigners trapped in the country.

She worked for the Navy department during the war and married Joseph F. Moore, Jr. of Berryville, VA in 1941. They resided in Venezuela, Connecticut, Virginia, Hamburg, Germany, and London, England, as his job took them around much of the world, in addition to extensive personal travels.

She is survived by her three children, John Rixey Moore, Lloyd Williams Moore and his wife, Jill, and Selina Ravenel Moore; and her grandchildren, Joseph Lloyd Moore and Susanne Rixey Moore.

A brief graveside service was held at Green Hill Cemetery in Berryville at 12:30 P.M. on Friday, February 26, 2010 followed by a memorial service at 1:00 P. M. at Grace Episcopal Church in Berryville with The Rev. Canon Dwight L. Brown officiating.
