Obituary - The Washington Herald, January 3 1911, Page 2
"Mrs. Emily J. Wilkins, widow of Beriah Wilkins, who was a Representative from Ohio in the Forty-eighth, Forty-ninth, and Fiftieth Congresses, and for many years owner and publisher of the Washington Post, died yesterday shortly after noon at her residence, 1700 Massachusetts avenue northwest, of paralysis. Although she had been ill for more than a year her death was unexpected and was a shock to her large circle of friends.
...Mrs. Wilkins was born in Union County, Ohio, sixty-three years ago, and came to Washington in 1883, when her husband was elected to Congress. She had resided here ever since. She was interested in church work and in many charitable institutions, and was connected with the Garfield Hospital and the Washington Foundling Hospital.
She leaves two sons, John F. and Robert C Wilkins, well known in business circles and a sister who has resided here with the family for some years...interment in Rock Creek Cemetery beside the body of her husband who died six years ago."
