OBITUARY :
MRS. ARLENE M. (STOOPS) BLUBAUGH, 86, a resident of Quincy Village, Quincy, PA and formerly of 414 Walnut Street, Waynesboro, PA, passed away at 7:24 A.M., Friday, June 17, 2011 in the nursing home. She had been in failing health for the past two years.

Born November 6, 1924 in Waynesboro, she was the daughter of the late Percy M. and Ida B. (Bonner) Stoops.

Mrs. Blubaugh graduated from Quincy High School with the class of 1943.

She and her husband, the late Mr. Merle I. Blubaugh, were married January 13, 1951. Mr. Blubaugh passed away February 26, 1998. She had lived at their Walnut Street address for 45 years prior to entering the nursing home in July 2009.

Mrs. Blubaugh was employed by several local area shoe factories for 49 years.

She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, Waynesboro and the Rose Circle Sunday school class where she held perfect attendance for many years.

Mrs. Blubaugh enjoyed crocheting, playing the guitar and bingo, fishing, and bowling. She also was an avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles and the Washington Redskins.

Mrs. Blubaugh is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Harbaugh and LuAnn Hardman, both of Waynesboro; two step-daughters, Phylis Croson and Doris Ricker, both of Waynesboro; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Irene T. Baughman and Shirley M. Huntsberry, both of Waynesboro; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Merle I. Blubaugh who passed away June 6, 1951; four sisters, Naomi P. Finafrock, Frances Besecker, Mary E. Etter and Fay Stoops; and seven brothers, Glen S. Stoops, Orville L. Stoops, D. Claire Stoops, O. Eugene Stoops, Hubert C. Stoops, Garland S. Stoops and Robert L. Stoops.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, June 20, 2011 in Mount Zion Cemetery, near Quincy with Pastor Mark Shover officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made Quincy Village Benevolent Care Fund, 6596 Orphanage Road, Waynesboro, PA 17268 or Antietam Humane Society, 8513 Lyons Road, Waynesboro PA 17268.
