Lucinda Fondren was born in Spartanburg South Carolina about 1814. She was married to Dillard Cooper also born in Spartanburg South Carolina in 1814. She was the daughter of William Richard Fondren and Sarah Cole. After the Texas Independence War from Mexico she and her two sons moved with Dillard to Columbus, Colorado Co., Texas. She had a total of five children with Dillard. William Jasper, Albert Newton, Malissa Adaline, Elizabeth, California "Callie" Cooper. She died 28 August 1878 and was buried in the Columbus City Cemetery. Her grave cannot be found as the Colorado River flooded the cemetery and a lot of graves were lost including hers.
