Jacob Schipper, son of Tillie Flessner Schipper and Ulfert Schipper, was born August 5, 1897 at Steen, Minnesota. As a small child he moved with his family to the Ben Clair - Rowena area. He grew up there and after his marriage to Magdalena Hartmann in Sioux Falls on April 13, 1920, they farmed in that area. They moved into Sioux Falls in 1937 and he worked as a self-employed painter until retiring.

Jacob was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, the Bergland Center for Seniors and A.A.R.P.

Grateful for having shared his life are 3 sons, Harold, Minneapolis, Minnesota, Robert, Fillmore, California and Willard, Lufkin, Texas; 2 daughters, Mrs. Harley (Eleanor) Atwood, Sioux Falls and Mrs. Henry (Lorraine) Raaen, Renner, South Dakota; 23 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; his sister, Mrs. Grace Slieter, Hills, Minnesota; his sister-in-law, Mrs. Aurlette Schipper, Rock Rapids, Iowa; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Magdalena, on Februarly 23, 1977; his parents; and 3 brothers, John, Henry and Fred.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather with the family at Hope Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall following the committal service.
