Ladislav "Slavko" Pacic was born in Vranov Dol, Croatia, which is 2 km west of Plesivica, which is north of Jastrebarsko, Croatia. His parents were Stephen and Anne (Proz) Pacic. He emigrated to the United States in 1903 arriving in Philadelphia on May 7, 1903 on the vessel Netherlands. He settled in Youngstown, Ohio and married Aloyza Obraz on February 15, 1904 at the Sts. Cyril & Methodius Church there. The family moved to Kalamazoo, Michigan on March 1, 1908. The family then moved to Battle Creek, Michigan around 1910, and then to Albion, Michigan around 1912. Slavko worked on the interurban in Albion, then as a foreman at the Gale Manufacturing Company. The name evolved to Pasick. Slavko's brother Bolto (Findgrave #9272814) (later changed to Frank) Pacic lived in Kalamazoo and kept the original Croatian surname spelling. Sister Aloyza (Findagrave #9272942) lived in Lansing, MI, and sister Bara (Findagrave #9272881) lived in South St. Paul, Minnesota and is buried in Mendota Heights, Minnesota. Another brother, Juraj (George) lived in Detroit and went by the name of George Peter Passik. We think he died in the early 1950s there, but have no record of his death nor burial location. George is listed in the 1950 U.S. Census there. There are numerous Pacic-clan descendants today, who spell their surnames several ways: Pacic, Pasic, Pasick, Passic, Passick, Passik.
