Pavel (Paul) CZUDEK was born in house 41 of Hradek, Silesia, Austria to Jan CZUDEK and Marianna SAMIEC. He was baptised 9-Sep-1883 at the Evangelical Church of Navsi. He was the youngest of nine children.

[Historical note: the town of Hradek fell within the boundaries of Czechoslovakia when this country was created after WWI. Hradek is now inside the borders of the Czech Republic, by the Olza River which flows along the eastern border with Poland.]

Paul immigrated 21-Aug-1906 through Ellis Island on the SS Bremen, departing from Bremen, German. He was listed as single and was one of four villagers of Grodek, Moravia. The men were Adam Kantor (26), Jerzy Mlynek (27), Paul Czudek (23) and Adam Kantor (16).

A 1909 border crossing manifest at Portal, ND, USA lists Paul Chudek and Jan Drong entering the USA with a destination of Sheridan, WY to visit George (Jerzy) Mlynek.

Paul married Marianna LAZAR in Sheridan Cty, WY, USA 19-Feb-1911. In October the same year he filed his Declaration of Intention in the same county. By 1920 he and Marianna had moved to Whatcom Cty, WA, USA where he filed another Declaration of Intention on 15-Jun-1920.

The 1920 US census shows Paul [38], Mary [27], and three children Paul [8], Mary F [6], and Albert A [10m] living in a Whatcom County, WA household including John Drong and 6 other Drong family members. Also found is Mary Szturc [62] but no relationship to either family surname is noted.

Paul died in a coal mining accident in Bellingham, WA at the age of 43.

The children of Paul and Marie (Lazar) Chudek are:
1911-1945 Paul
1914-1966 Mary Francis
