Dora Bloyd, 93, former homemaker, widow of the Rev. J.H. Bloyd, died yesterday. Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home. Visitation: 3 p.m. today.
Mrs. Dora B. Bloyd, daughter of the late Mr. Joe D. Moran and Mrs. Lyndie Frances Wright, was born December 23, 1903, in Green County and departed this life on Monday, December 8, 1997, at the McDowell Skilled Nursing Facility in Greensburg. She was 93 years, 11 months and 15 days of age. She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Munfordville Separate Baptist Church.
She united in marriage to Mr. James Harvey Bloyd on January 11, 1920, who preceded her in death on December 20, 1988. To this union were born three daughters and four sons: Roxie Davenport, Orvella Clark, Wanda Curry, Rev. Gleason Bloyd and Verlis "Shorty" Bloyd, all of Greensburg. She was preceded in death by Charles Bloyd and Arnold Bloyd. She is also survived by two sisters: Ora Judd of Greensburg and Vera Davis of Louisville; 20 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, and six step-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by one daughter-in-law: Doris Bloyd. The funeral services for Mrs. Dora B. Bloyd were conducted Wednesday, December 10, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home with burial in the Summersville Memory Gardens. Rev. Roger Pepper and Rev. Carlos Compton officiated. Pallbearers were Denlee Davenport, Wilford Davenport, Leo Curry, Jr., Doug Bloyd, Todd Bloyd, Roger Bloyd, David Bloyd, Verlon Davenport, Stevie Clark, Michael Bloyd, Tony Bloyd, Eddie Bloyd and Joe Bloyd.
