Per 1/30/03 "The Laconia Citizen" Obit.:

CONCORD - Shirley (Snow) Barker, 84, formerly of Manchester, died Jan. 29, 2003, at the Hospice House in Concord after a long battle with cancer.

Ms. Barker was born in Manchester, July 31, 1918, the daughter of Harold and Lillian Snow. She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald Barker in 1972.

Ms. Barker was a graduate of Manchester High School Central class of 1936. She joined the US Navy during WWII as an Ensign in the Navy Nurse Corps in 1943. She was an Elliot Hospital volunteer, having served 2,350 hours. Ms. Barker was also a nurse in the Manchester school system for 21 years, having retired in 1980.

Ms. Barker is survived by a daughter, Ms. Gail Fremaeau of Hooksett; two grandchildren; a brother, Wayne Snow of Gilford; several nieces and nephews.

There will be no calling hours. The Goodwin Funeral Home is in charge of cremation. Burial will be held at the family plot in Pine Grove Cemetery at a future date for family and friends. The Rev. Richard Gray of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Manchester, will officiate at the burial service.
