MT. VERNON — Una Marie George, 71, of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 5:58 p.m. Friday, June 10, 2011, at her home.

She was born Sunday, Sept. 24, 1939, in Jefferson County, a daughter of Arthur Ray and Fay (Harvey) Smith. She was married to Claude Lee Bledsoe.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Oakwood Cemetery in Mt. Vernon with the Rev. Merle Fullerton officiating. Interment will follow. There will be no visitation.

Ms. George is survived by special friend Mike Davis of Mt. Vernon; a son, David Bledsoe and wife Grecie of Bonifay, Fla.; two daughters, Cheryl Spicer and husband David of Bluford and Tammy Taylor of Centralia; grandchildren, Amanda Hosmer, Shelly and Stacie Helms, Britney, Matthew, Megan, Jeremy and Brandon Bledsoe, Melissa Aguilar and Crystal Karch; two brothers, Arthur O. Smith of Joppa and Derald Smith and wife Ruthie of Illinois; and a sister, Joyce Bassett of Fradenburg. 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and cousins also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Rick and Claude Allen Bledsoe; two brothers, Otis and Gary Smith; and two sisters, Shirley Belle Smith and Thelma Smith.

Una was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.
