Iona Bennett
Miss Iona D. Bennett, 95, of La Harpe, passed away Friday, September 22, 2000, at 1:20 a.m. at the La Harpe-Davier Health Care Center in La Harpe.
She was born near La Harpe on June 24, 1905, the daughter of Lorenzo and Daisy Mesecher Bennett.
She was a lifelong resident of La Harpe. She had worked as an L.P.N. at the La Harpe Hospital and the Memorial Hospital in Carthage. She also cared for people in their homes. She was a member of the La Harpe Christian church and the TNT Class at her church.
She is survived by one nephew, Kenneth Bennett of Park Forest, and five nieces, Gladys Huston of La Harpe, Martha Reed and Lois Collins, both of rural Lomax, Luella Kramer of Plamyra, Missouri and Jean Cutforth of Mexico, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Floyd Bennett, Loyal Bennett and a brother in infancy.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, September 25, 2000, at Banks and Beals Funeral Home in La Harpe with the church Elders officiating. Burial was in the La Harpe Cemetery.
