Dorothy Andersen, age 91, a resident of the Hayward Nursing Home died on Wednesday, March 2, 2011.

Dorothy Marie Hagen was born on December 22, 1919, in Blue Island, IL, to parents Burdette and Lillian (Fritch) Hagen.

She was joined in marriage to Robert James Andersen on February 21, 1942, in Midlothian, IL.

She worked for the New York, Chicago, and St. Louis Railroad in Chicago from 1942 until 1957. In 1959, they purchased Andersen's Timber Ridge Resort on to Spider Lake where Dorothy spent the summers operating the resort. In 1967, they moved permanently to Hayward and purchased Dow's Corner Store, and owned and operated it until 1973. The couple then built Misty Meadow Café, where on the same property, Dorothy owned and operated her own ceramic studio. Dorothy was a past member of the Hayward School Board, the Red Cross, Order of the Eastern Star, the Homemaker's Club, and Trinity Lutheran Church.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter Bobi (Rick) Hopp of Hayward, WI, granddaughter Nikki Hopp of Eau Claire, WI, and many nephews and nieces.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brother John Burdette Hagen.

A spring graveside service will be planned at the Greenwood Cemetery in the Dual Veterans Section next to her husband, Robert.
