Shirley Jean Cheney, 78, of Gilbert, Arizona formerly of Watervliet, Michigan, passed away on Sunday January 10, 2010.
Shirley was born January 15, 1931 in Blytheville, Arkansas to Vaney Price and Otis Hinchey. She had spent her working career in electronic assembly.
Shirley is survived by two sons: William "Bill" Cheney of Gilbert, Arizona and Frank (Linda) Spence of Montana; her daughter, Kim Cheney Mendoza of Gilbert, Arizona and many grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Ty Cheney; one daughter, Kathleen Ross, as well as her mother, Vannie Retherford, and her first husband, Junior Spence. Shirley was the darling of her entire family. Her Uncles doted on her. She was the first grandchild in their family. I was the second some 14 years later. As her cousin, I loved her dearly as well.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Falconer Funeral Home of Gilbert, Arizona and funeral services for Shirley were celebrated Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 2 p.m. at the Hutchins and Sons Funeral Home in Watervliet, Michigan with burial followed in the North Shore Memory Gardens in Hagar Shore, Michigan.
