"Louis Thierry was the brother of my third great-grandfather Jacques Thierry. Both brothers came to the US in the 1800s. Jacques was born in Mulhouse, Haut-Rhin, Alsace, France. I assume that his brother Louis would have been born in the same area. They actually grew up in a small village just southeast of Mulhouse called Villar les Blamont. Their father was Jean Jacque Thierry (born 1800) and their mother was Marie Anne Haxaire (also born in France, date of birth unknown).
The Thierrys were definitely FRENCH, and not German. The area of France they lived in was later taken over by Germany but then later again went back to France. Jacques Thierry's native language was French as his diaries are written 1/2 in English and 1/2 in French."
