Nellie Carlson Bauman was the last of four children born to Charley (Carl) Carlson (Swedish immigrant) and Rose Danielson. Her grandfather was Nils Carlsson. She graduated from Clinton High School in Minnesota.
She married Lloyd Bauman (1906-1966) and for a short time lived on the Carlson Homestead of her parents. Lloyd was mayor of Clinton and owned a car dealership in Clinton. He was a staunch supporter of the Democratic Farm League and a personal friend of Hubert Humphrey. Nellie and Lloyd had 2 children:
1. John Bauman m. Judy Lindeholm and they live in White Bear Lake, MN
2. Jim Bauman
