BEALE, Charles Hoomes Jr., Colonel USMC (Retired), 91, of The Woodland in Farmville, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 3, 2011. Born and raised in Westmoreland County, Virginia, he was a friendly and loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Lunette Harris Beale; his parents, Charles and Clara Beale; his sister, Anne T. Beale; and brother, Robert H. Beale. He is survived by a daughter, Katherine Anne Beale; and a son, Lt. Col. Charles H. Beale III USMC (retired) (Sally), all of Blackstone; and a brother, John P. Beale (Martha Frances) of Kinsale, Va. Colonel Beale, affectionately known as "Bear" by many family members and friends, is also survived by three grandchildren, Matthew C. Beale (Jiun), John E. Beale, and Katherine F. Beale; as well as a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, June 17, 2011, at Blackstone Presbyterian Church, Blackstone, Va. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 16, at the Joseph McMillian Funeral Home, 1826 Cox Road (Bus. Hwy. 460), near Blackstone. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Blackstone Presbyterian Church, 301 Church Street, Blackstone, Va. 23824, or the Disabled American Veterans Memorial Program, P.O.
