Funeral services for Mr. Gary Raburn, 55 of Hallsville will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday June 11, 2011 in the Chapel of Downs Funeral Home with Bro. Alvin Oney officiating. Interment will follow in Blocker Cemetery.The family will receive friends Friday June 10, 2011 at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Mr. Raburn passed away June 08, 2011 in Longview.

Gary Raburn was born in Waco, Texas on May 16, 1956 to Bill Raburn and Bobbie Jean Phillips Raburn. Gary was a member of East Side Missionary Baptist Church in Minden, LA He was an avid member of Hallsville Softball Association and was an avid NASCAR fan as well as dirt track racing. His favorites were #3 Earnhardt and # 88 Earnhardt. Gary Raburn had a unique and special personality. He never met a stranger and would talk to anyone. Gary loved to tell stories, whether you wanted to listen or not. Gary's life changed tremendously when he adopted his only child approximately 14 years ago, Angel Nichole Raburn. She was her daddy's pride and joy. Gary took his job as being a father as a honor and a privilege. Angel has always been the apple of her daddy's eye since the first day he laid eyes on her. Gary loved to watch Angel play fast pitch softball and was her biggest fan. They enjoyed watching Walker Texas Ranger daily together and loved to see who got the largest bowl of ice cream.

Surviving Gary are his wife, Vicky Oney- Raburn of Hallsville; daughter Angel Nichole Raburn of Hallsville; two step-daughters, LeeAnn Haggard of Longview and Jessica Haggard of Diana; father and mother-in-law, Alvin and Patricia Oney of Marshall; maternal grandmother, Betty (Mama 2) Morton of Longview; his only sister, Carla Cummings and husband Jerry of Gibsland, LA and two brothers, Paul Raburn and wife Joyce of Magnolia, Ark. and Charlie Raburn and wife Anne of Arcadia, LA. Gary was also blessed with a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and in-laws who will greatly miss him.

Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Oney, James Oney, P.J. Raburn, Travis Blackmon, James Howell, A.J. Peoples, Tim Taylor, Forrest Guest and Jerry Cummings.
